Padres Game Day Chat 8.25

MONTH BY MONTH: At 15-7 in August, the Padres have clinched a seventh straight month of winning baseball, dating back to August of 2009…the Padres are the only National League team to finish over .500 in each of the last seven full months of play (August and September of 2009; April, May, June and July of 2010)…at 12-11 this month, the Yankees are the only other Major League team with chance to keep a streak of at least seven months alive.

GOOSE EGGS: The Padres tossed their 16th shutout of the season last night, ranking second in the Majors behind the New York Mets (18)…the 16 shutouts rank fifth in franchise history and four behind the club record (20 in 2007)…in addition, with 10 shutouts at home this season, the 2010 club is second to only the 2007 team (14) in shutouts at PETCO Park.

SNAKE CHARMER: Chris Denorfia went 1-for-3 with his ninth home run of the season last night…in his three games against the Diamondbacks this season, he is now 7-for-11 (.636) with four home runs, six RBI, seven runs scored and two walks…he has reached base in nine of 13 plate appearances (.692 OBP) while slugging 1.727 in those games.
