WILLING AND ABLE: Dating back to 9/8, Will Venable has hit safely in 11 of his 14 games with an at-bat, including six multi-hit games in his last seven tilts…over the 14-game stretch, he has eight multi-hit games and is hitting .489 (22-for-45) with a .521 on-base percentage and .667 slugging percentage (1.188 OPS)…he has lifted his season average from .219 (on 9/7) to .252 during that span.
HOME, SWEET HOME: Padres pitchers have posted a Major League-leading 2.88 ERA (222 ER/694.0 IP) at home this season…that mark would rank as the fifth-best in franchise history, the lowest mark ever at PETCO Park and the best home ERA for the Padres since the 1998 club posted a 2.78 (232 ER/751.0 IP) ERA.
