WILD, WEST SHOWDOWN: The Padres continue a 10-game homestand with the last of three against the Dodgers tonight…following the three-game set, the club will host the Giants for four (9/9-12) before hitting the road again…San Diego is in the midst of a stretch in which they play 16 straight games, 19 of 23 and 22 of their final 33 on the season against NL West opponents…so far this year San Diego is 30-28 (.517) against divisional foes…the Padres are 10-8 vs. the Diamondbacks, 4-11 vs. the Rockies, 7-7 vs. the Dodgers and 9-2 vs. the Giants.

SWEEP DREAMS: San Diego goes for the three-game sweep tonight, in what would be their fourth consecutive series to result in a sweep…the Padres were swept by the Phillies, Diamondbacks and Rockies before taking the first two from the Dodgers…San Diego is 8-4 in sweeps on the season, including a 4-3 mark at PETCO Park…the last time the Padres swept a series of at least three games against the Dodgers was in 2007, when San Diego took a three-game set at PETCO Park.

MORE ON LATOS: By working 7.0 innings of one-run ball last night, Mat Latos set a Major League record with his 15th consecutive start of 5.0 or more innings with two or fewer runs allowed…he passed Greg Maddux (8/11/93-4/14/94) and Mike Scott (5/9-7/7/86), who each tallied 14-start streaks…in addition, Latos
