Good, Bad, and Ugly 4/8 vs. Dodgers

good bad and uglyPadres Fall Short in Extra Innings Tonight 6-5
WP: Clayton Richard (1-0)
LP: Aaron Harang (0-1)
Homeruns – SD: Andy Parrino (1), Chase Headley (1) LA – Matt Kemp (1), Andre Ethier (1)

The Good

Plate Discipline

  • The Padres follow up 10 walks on Saturday with nine on Sunday.  For those of you keeping track at home, that is 22 walks on the season, which leads the NL.

Andy Parrino

  • 2-4 with his first major league homerun.

Clayton Richard

  • 7 IP, 2H, 2R, 0ER, 3K, 2BB. 61 of Richard’s 83 pitches were thrown for strikes

Andrew Casher (The Man in Black)

  • 1IP, 0H, 0ER, 1K, 1BB and another pitch that hit triple digits.

Chase Headley

  • 1-2 2R, HR (1), 4 RBI, three walks, and a stolen base.  Despite Headley’s rough start he does have an OBP of .333

Cameron Maybin

  • 2-4 2R, and two stolen bases.

The Bad:

Andrew Cashner (#Maninblack)

  • Buddy put Cash out for a third straight day.  I know Buddy finds guys he likes, leans on them heavily, and then breaks them.  Please don’t break Cashner.  Thanks.

  • Nine more strikeouts today.  Clearly the Padres are trying to work deep into counts because of the combination of high walk and strikeout totals, but this team cannot afford to make unproductive outs.  With 36 punch outs, the Padres currently lead the NL.

The Ugly:

  • Three more today.  I know Richard made two himself, but regardless, this Padres team needs to keep a zero in the E column.  The Padres now lead the National League with eight errors on the season.

  • Watching a condensed version of the game on my MLB at bat app is killing me.  It appears that Time Warner has the most customers, so they are getting all the press.  While those like myself with ATT Uverse are in the dark.  It appears I will be taking my talents to Cox Cable this week if UVerse doesn’t make something happen in the next couple days.  UVerse, if you are reading, this is not a threat, it is a promise.  Fox Sports San Diego For All!
