HOUSTON SOLUTION: The Padres begin a seven-game road trip tonight with the first of four against the Houston Astros…will travel to Chicago next for a three-game series at Wrigley Field…finished their eight-game homestand in walk-off fashion with a win over the Cincinnati Reds…went 3-5 on the homestand, splitting a two-game set with the San Francisco Giants and taking one of three from the Los Angeles Dodgers and Reds…return home a week from today for a seven-game homestand against the Philadelphia Phillies (four games) and Atlanta Braves (three games).

WALK IT OFF: The Padres came away with their first walk-off win of 2011 yesterday on an RBI-single from Orlando Hudson with two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning vs. CIN…the walk-off win was their first since 9/25 of last season, also against CIN, when Chris Denorfia doubled off LHP Aroldis Chapman to score Chase Headley in the bottom of the ninth…San Diego had 11 walk-off wins total in 2010.

HITTING HOUSTON: Brad Hawpe is a lifetime .353 (49-for-139) hitter against the Astros, which is the best average against HOU among all active players and fourth best all-time (min. 150 PA)Ryan Ludwick is a lifetime .315 (47-for-149) hitter against HOU, the 12th best average against the Astros among active players (min. 150 PA)…Ludwick also has an 11-game hitting streak against the Astros dating back to 8/2/09 and is batting .500 (20-for-40) against HOU in that stretch…Jorge Cantu has a 13-game hitting streak against the Astros dating back to 4/13/08, batting .315 (17-for-54) against HOU in that span.
