WINDY CITY SERIES: The Padres begin a three-game series with the Cubs tonight at Wrigley Field and are 2-2 on this seven-game road trip through Houston (2-2) and Chicago…picked up the win yesterday at Houston to split the four-game set, collecting a season-high 11 hits on the day…will return home to begin a seven-game homestand on Thursday against the Philladelphia Phillies (four games) and Atlanta Braves (three games).

AGAINST THE CUBS: San Diego has won 10 of their last 14 meetings with the Cubs, since 5/22/09…Padres have won 17 of their last 27 games at Wrigley Field, including sweeping a four-game series here last season, the first four-game sweep for San Diego at Wrigley Field in franchise history.

SAVED BY THE BELL: Padres closer Heath Bell converted his fourth save of the year yesterday and has now converted each of his last 38 save opportunities since 5/29/10, the longest active streak in MLB…the streak ties Trevor Hoffman
