Sharing is Caring

Rizzo4RIZZOMANIA seems to have hit San Diego this week and for good reason.  Padres prospect Anthony Rizzo, rumored to make his major league debut is currently in San Diego and all signs point to him making an appearance in a Padres uniform this week.  Rizzo has put up video game numbers while with AAA Tucson this season and if his swing is able to translate from the PCL to the NL West, a run at the NL Rookie of the Year award could be in the cards.

With names like Danny Espinosa, Freddie Freeman, and Darwin Barney with over 200 Abs, Rizzo will have some ground to make up.

Player Team POS G AB R H TB 2B 3B HR RBI SB AVG OBP SLG
Darwin Baney CHC 2B 57 223 30 69 85 7 3 1 25 3 0.309 0.332 0.381
Freddie Freeman ATL 1B 59 205 24 56 86 15 0 5 21 2 0.273 0.343 0.42
Danny Espinosa WSH SS 61 207 29 45 91 8 4 10 33 5 0.217 0.318 0.44

Players such as Dominic Brown, Brandon Belt, and Jerry Sands should also be in the mix for the NLROY as well.

Anthony Rizzo, my #1 Padres Prospect has been nothing short of outstanding for the Tucson Padres this season.

Player Team POS G AB R H TB 2B 3B HR RBI SB AVG OBP SLG
Anthony Rizzo TUC 1B 52 200 42 73 143 20 1 16 63 5 0.365 0.444 0.715

Rizzo will have two things going for him, playing in Petco during the summer and the amount of road games the Padres still have.  Petco is still pitcher friendly as the temperature rises, but will open up for offenses.  We got a reminder of this when the Pirates came to town in early May.  Of the teams remaining 100 games, 54 will be on the road including two trips to hitter friendly parks in Colorado and Arizona.

Regardless of what the Padres do in the standings, Rizzo will give the fans a reason to watch as he tries to do something that has not been achieved in San Diego since Benito Santiago won the award in 1987.

In Rizzo we trust.
