Padres Cut Ties with Hitting Coach Randy Ready PDF Print E-mail

Sharing is Caring

The Padres have decided to part ways with hitting coach Randy Ready.  Randy flew through the ranks as a minor league manager in the Padres system.  Starting at Fort Wayne in 2004 and made stops in San Antonio (2007) and Portland (2008-09), Ready was named "Best Manager Prospect" by Baseball America in the PCL in 2008.  Ready was a hot shot manager coming up through the ranks and in 2009 when the team decided to cut ties with hitting coach Jim Lefebvre, Ready was named the new hitting coach.

“I would like to thank Randy for his efforts during his time as hitting coach for the Padres,” said Hoyer. “He has made a lasting impact on this organization, dating back to his time as a minor league manager. Randy worked tirelessly at what has proven to be a one of the most difficult jobs in baseball, and we appreciate all he has done for the Padres.”

Per Dan Hayes' twitter account "Source guessed int. options are Sean Berry and Phil Plantier."

I would also think that Bob Skube (Tucson) and Tom Tornincasa (San Antonio) would be solid candidates based on their successes in the organization and how highly the players regard them.  Doug Dascenzo, manager of the San Antonio championship team would have been an interesting name, but it was reported last week he has left the Padres organization to join the Braves.
