Per Ken Rosenthal the Padres will hire Phil Plantier as their new hitting coach. Plantier was the manager of the Cal League Champion Lake Elsinore Storm in 2011. He played in the major leagues from 2000 - 2007 with five different teams. During that time frame he had three stints with the Padres. Josh Byrnes is scheduled to be announced as the Padres new general manager tomorrow and we should have more information as to the direction of the coaching staff at that time.
