Multiple sources are reporting The San Diego Padres will sign veteran right hander Jeff Suppan to a minor league contract and invite him out to Spring Training. He will add some depth to the pitching staff in the Spring and log in some good innings. Suppan will be entering his 17th season in the league and he made his major league debut in 1995 with the Boston Red Sox. He has a career 138-143 record with a 4.69 ERA. In his last season in the majors, 2010, he pitched for the St Louis Cardinals and went 3-6 with a 3.84 ERA in 13 starts. He spent all of last season with the Kansas City Royals AAA team in Omaha and never got the call up to the major league team.
