Sharing is Caring

Chris Young will skip his start against the Braves due to "shoulder tightness" -  the same shoulder CY had arthroscopic surgery on last season.  Kevin Correia will pitch in his place in the Padres home opener.  It has been said this is a "precautionary" move, with the flexibility of having the extra day off.  Shoulder tightness is never something to take lightly, especially with CY's previous health concerns.  For those of you that watched CY pitch in his first appearance, you may have noticed him favoring his shoulder. Hopefully (for Padres fans and CY),  this is a minor setback because the Padres need a healthy CY to have a  competitive season.

Nevertheless, the Padres possess depth starting pitching depth (Gallagher, Stuaffer, LaBlanc, etc.), but CY needs to be the anchor of the rotation, the "stopper" that matches up with the opposing aces. Again, as of now this is only precautionary.  With CY's track record of health issues its never fun to guess how this may affect his pitching or health status throughout the year.

Now what really bothers me (besides the obvious concern) is CY not having the opening day honor of pitching in front of the home crowd.

Now, go reck em' in Colorado boys!

I am pretty much done with him. He has great stuff but what good is it when he isn't able to do what he is being paid a lot of money to do? Get me ANYBODY that is relatively healthy that can play a full season. At this point, I would rather have Greg Maddox back! He needs to go!

Young pitched fantastic in his first start, Like he said... he expected at some point in his recovery to have a set back. It just happened later than expected, This is not uncommon. If he cannot maintain healthy, the Padres have a very viable option In LeBlanc who is already pitching very well in his place. To let CY go before his "stock" rises (for nothing) a bit would not make much sense at all.
