Stauffer to have emergency appendectomy PDF Print E-mail

Sharing is Caring

Tim Stauffer undergoes emergency appendectomy that could sideline the swing man up to six weeks. Stauffer coming off his first start of the season going five strong innings while not allowing a run. Tim had stepped in for Kevin Correia whom left early Sunday morning to San Diego to be with family after news of his younger brothers tragic passing.

Stauffer, 27 having his best season after being very impressive in spring training and forcing the Padres to keep him on the staff (because he is out of options) one way or the other as a swing-man/long relief has posted a stellar 0.39 ERA.

Stauffer once again will hit another bump in his baseball career just like shortly after the Padres drafted Tim. Stauffer had actually told the Padres that he did in-fact have an arm problem and signed for less! I am not sure how many players would have done that. After missing the entire 08 season riddled with injuries on and off throughout his baseball career. Tim finally had seemed to find his niche, he appeared to get back to what seemed to be his command and velocity, "back to his old form"; exactly what the Padres saw in Tim when they drafted him.

This set back is very disheartening especially to such a great guy, a person easy to root for, but Tim has shown perseverance throughout his career and hopefully he can come back once again with a speedy recover.

According to Dan Hayes, the Padres seem to be leading towards promoting Cesar Ramos.

Wow...this is a kick to the gut for the Padres pitching staff. Stauffer was filling alot of holes and his arm will be missed.
Now we are going to find out if the performances and good numbers we see in Portland are the real deal...or a mirage.

Hopefully he went into surgery in time and did not have any complications so he can be back quickly, if not he may return well into August if not September
