The last Daily Friar of November is upon us. Time to turn the calendar page to December and see what waits for us there. The winter meetings start next week (one of my favorite times of the year) so that should add excitement to these links (hopefully). In other baseball news Bobby Valentine is the new BoSox manager, and a bunch of teams are talking trades. Here are some padres links for you all:
Chicken Friars talks about all the GMs in Padres history "Byrnes has his work cut out for him. As you can see, the team is only as good as its GM."
They also look at the upcoming winter meetings - Chicken Friars "The only way the Padres are going to make the types of move Byrnes is talking about is to do so before all the talent is scooped up by other teams. The Padres winter wonderland this off-season is filled with more wonder than excitement." Gaslamp Ball scares up some interesting and fun links for us too
Padres report card from last season - Baseball Digest "The 2011 Padres could aptly be called ‘The Team That Did Not Hit’. Trading Adrian Gonzalez to the Boston Red Sox in the off-season meant the Padres had to count both on Ryan Ludwick returning to form and major contributions from other free agent signees."
Padres Trail gets in on the arbitration offers "Back to the Padres. Since the news came out a week ago, on the day before Thanksgiving, I missed it, but it included some of the news we've been waiting for. San Diego offered arbitration to Heath Bell and Aaron Harang." Jim Duquette talks about Heath Bell - MLB.com (Video) Got to love the winter meetings logo - Corey Brock (via Twitter)
