The Padres got swept for the first time this, losing a season high three in a row to the rival Dodgers.  Each game was pretty close with good pitching on both sides and low score in every game.  The Padres hitting has gone cold as of late as they scored three, one and zero in the three games.

Part of it was the Dodger pitching but the Padres seem to be in a slump and are not taking a good approach at the plate as they  were earlier when they were taking down some of the best pitchers in the league in the early part of season.  A lot of people seem to be upset and rightfully so, you never want to get swept but I think a lot of people are overreacting.

When you look at the series closely, the Padres could have easily won two of the three games and got great starts from Garland and LeBlanc, with Kevin Correia understandably looking a little rusty.

The Dodgers got great outings from Billingsley and Kershaw no doubt, but the Padres did not help themselves out at the plate, swinging at a lot of bad pitches.  Overall the Padres still have to be feeling pretty good.

For a team that was supposed to finish dead last in the NL West, picked to be one of the worst teams in baseball, the Padres and their 37 million dollar payroll have shown they are not going anywhere and are going to a tough team throughout the season.

Keep it in perspective Friar Faithful, this team is incredibly young and you have to be patient with young talent in a sport where failing seven out of ten times is considered above average.  The pitching will be there, hopefully the bats can get out of the slump they are in with the Giants coming to town for a two game set.  The Padres remain in first place.
