Sharing is Caring

Padres win the season opener 5-3 in extra innings at Busch.
WP - Pat Neshek (1-0)
LP – Bryan Augenstein (0-1)
Save – Heath Bell (1)
The Good:
Padres pitching
  • No surprise here, Tim Stauffer was fantastic going six innings and only allowing two earned runs on nine hits.  The bullpen was fantastic, the only flow coming on the (excuse me) homerun off Mike Adams
  • A game tying homerun in the top of the ninth to send the game into extra innings, followed up by a base hit led to Chase Headley coming home for the winning run.
Bartlett and Hudson
  • The new middle infield combo was able to turn four double plays.
The Bad:
Padres offense
  • Accounting for five hits the first nine innings was painful to watch.
The Ugly:
Brad Hawpe
  • Hawpe with a rough debut in the clean up spot.  After watching Hudson walked twice, Hawpe swung at the first pitch on both occasions.  0-5 with four men left on base for the game.
