Padres cannot cash in on opportunities and fall to the Reds 8-2 in 11 innings WP: Logan Ondrusek (2-0) LP: Cory Luebke (0-1) HR – CIN: Stubbs (2) The Good: 2-5 Orlando now has an eight game hitting streak. Now, if only someone could hit behind him. Clayton has solid inducing 11 of his 13 outs via groundballs. 7 2/3IP, 5H, 2R, 1ER, 4K, 2 BB The Bad: Chase historically hits well in the fourth and fifth spots, not so much the third spot. He reminded us why once again. 0-5 3K and 5 LOB Bud Black I will say that players need to produce, but managers need to put them in the best position to produce. Similar to the game on Monday when Bud had Deno attempt to bunt Gonzalez over to third and failed. Tuesday, Bud sent up Chase to bunt Hudson over to third and failed. Taking the bat out of the #3 hitters hands and wasting an out is not ideal. Also, Bud burnt Gregerson after one pitch because he didn’t use a double switch and replace Hawpe with Cantu. This then lead to using Bell in the ninth and the rest is history. Just like players, managers have bad nights too. The Ugly: It appears this may be a permanent fixture. The Good, the bad, and Ludwick(and/or Hawpe) Ludwick 0-4 4 LOB is now hitting .094. I hate to say I told you so, so I won’t. Hawpe 0-3 2K I realize that these two guys are being paid well, so they will have a longer leash, but at some point you have to do what is in the best interest of the team.
