Hudson leads the Padres to victory in walk off fashion 3-2 over the Reds

WP: Heath Bell (1-0)

LP: Nick Masset (0-3)

The Good:

Orlando Hudson

1-4 Orlando now has a nine game hitting streak.  Scored a run, stole a base and drove in the winning run.

Ernesto Frieri

Ernie threw two perfect innings to keep the Padres in the game

2IP, 2H, 0ER, 1K

Chase Headley

2-4 with a run scored.  Headley was moved to the six slot, and responded well.

The Bad:

Jason Bartlett

0-4 Barlett’s average is now down to .129.  Bartlett is a guy that hits well in the leadoff or the last spot in the lineup.  He was coming back from a back injury and despite his solid defense; he left four men on base during the game.

Bud Black

EJECTED!  Arguing balls and strikes from the dugout, Buddy got tossed.  In all fairness, the home plate umpire, Angel Hernandez was lacking consistency with his strike zone.

The Ugly:

Ryan Ludwick and Jorge Cantu

It appears this may be a permanent fixture.  The Good, the bad, and Ludwick(and/or insert 1B)

Ludwick

1-3 Ludwick with a base hit on a ball Gomes lost in the clouds.  At this point, I don’t think anyone is complaining.

Cantu

0-4 RBI 2K Cantu is now hitting .160 on the season.

The most frustrating part about Hawpe and Cantu is Bud is helping them out by starting them against favorable matchups and they still are not able to get it going.  Let’s hope a trip to the NL Central will wake the bats up.
