Padres rally from behind to earn a split in Houston. Winning Sunday 8-6
WP: Ernesto Frieri (1-1)
LP: Mark Melancon (1-1)
Save: Heath Bell (4)
HR – SD: Hundley (3), Cantu (1)
The Good: 1-3 2 R, 2 RBI, SB Venable replaced an injured Denorfia and came through, driving in the go ahead run in the 8th. 2-5 triple, stolen base, and run scored. Maybin continues to produce on offense and defense. 2-4 R, 2 doubles. The Chase-go-round continues. Chase hit third today and continued his double-double theme. 2-4 R, RBI 1 IP 1H, 0 ER, 2K, 1BB It was not pretty, but Bell got the job done. Per the Padres twitter, Bell’s save streak extends to 38 straight, tying Hoffman for 2nd longest in franchise history The Bad: 5.1 IP, 7H, 6 ER, 5K, 1BB Clayton was solid through five, but things seemed to fall apart in the sixth. Chris Denoria 0-2 K Deno crashed into the side rail making a catch in foul territory and was removed from the game. The Ugly: 1-5 2K With his hit today, Ludwick’s average rose to .125 On a positive note, Ludwick has historically hit very well in Wrigley. Let’s hope he can get it going against the Cubs.
