Sharing is Caring
Padres explode for eight in the eighth to seal the deal, winning 13-6
WP: Chad Qualls (2-2)
LP: Kameron Loe (2-4)
HR: SD – Denorfia (3), Ludwick (5)  MIL – Fielder (8), Betancourt (2)

The Great:

Jason Bartlett

  • 4-6 2 R, 2 RBI (9), 2 SB (7) – Barlett saw his average jump from .235 to .256 while putting together his third multi-hit game in a row.

Cameron Maybin

  • 4-6 2 R, 2 RBI (10), double – Maybin’s average shot up 19 points to take him up to .252 on the season

Ryan Ludwick

  • 3-6 HR (5), R, 3 RBI (18) – Ludwick snapped out of a 0-21 slump today, but his average still sits at .195 on the season

Chad Qualls - #Quallstothewall

  • Win 1 1/3 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 K, 0 BB

Padres starting nine including Tim Stauffer had at least one hit.

The Good:

Brad Hawpe

  • 2-2 2 R, 1 RBI (7) – Hawpe is hitting .343 over his last ten games

Chris Denorfia

  • 3-4 HR (3) 2 R, 1 RBI (4) – Deno led the game off with a homerun and never looked back raising his average to .370

The Ugly:

Tim Stauffer

  • 5 1/3 IP 9 H, 6 ER, 7K, 2 BB – Tim was cruising through three until the wheels feel off in the fourth.  Stauffer gave up two runs in the fourth, three in the fifth, and was finally pulled after giving up a solo shot in the sixth.

Logan Forsythe

  • You may be wondering why Logan is on this list considering he didn’t even play, which is my point.  The Padres top second base prospect has been with the team over a week and has only had one start and two pinch-hit appearances.  This is a player guy with exceptional plate discipline and a line of .291/.410/.488 this season in Tucson.  If it is the job of the Padres to put the best team on the field every day, I have a hard time accepting that fringe major league players such as Gonzalez and/or Patterson make this team better than Forsythe does.  Bud is playing with a 24 man roster right now and he either needs to start playing Logan or Jed needs to call up another player Bud will allow to contribute.  Want to read more?  Tom Krasovic takes the other side of the argument here.
