Padres Top Hitter for the Month of April: Nick Hundley
Nick started off the season as the Padres hottest hitter and kept it rolling through the month of April. With a line of .274/.357/.474 Hundley was in the near the top in every offensive category for the Padres.
Highlights
- Hits – 23 ( Maybin led with 24)
- Runs – 11 (Maybin/Ludwick 12)
- RBI – 12 (Tied with Ludwick 12)
- Total Bases – 38 (Maybin 42)
- Eight of his 23 hits went for extra bases.
Hundley put up great numbers for only 84 at bats. He is taking advantage of his opportunity to be the lead man behind the plate. If a few others can get hot this offense could put together a strong May.

The Month of April Padres award winner is: David Eckstein
Leading the Padres in nicknames, David Eckstein was also leading the team to an amazing month of May. Whether it's "Scrappy," "Midget," "Mascot," "X-Factor," "Eck" - call him what you like - David Eckstein was getting the job done in May. Hitting .295/.359/.381 leading team in hits with 31 and doubles with nine. David had hits in 16 of his 25 starts and multiple hits in 12 games during the month, striking out only three times all month.
Eckstein's leadership on the field has been amazing too, as he really sets the tone for the team and is an outstanding leader.
