San Diego Padre’s Luke Gregerson’s Charity Bowling Event Held to Benefit The SYESA and Just in Time for Foster Youth Foundations

Bringing awareness to struggles that young people have after aging out of foster care and creating resources for foster youth

SAN DIEGO, CA- San Diego Padre’s Pitcher Luke Gregerson will be hosting a charity bowling event at the East Village Tavern & Bowl located in the San Diego Gaslamp District on September 22, 2011 from 7-10 p.m.

The event will be benefiting SYESA (Struggling Youth Equals Successful Adults) as well as the Just in Time for Foster Youth Foundation. SYESA works to coach struggling youth by pairing them with adult role models. They hope that the youth will learn to view their struggles as motivation to become successful adults.

Just in Time for Foster Youth’s mission is to provide foster youths that are in transition with opportunities for self-sufficiency. By providing emergency support, essential resources, and caring personal guidance to these young youth, Just in Time Foster Youth knows that the foster youth they reach will improve their opportunities to advance in the community.

Society may envision these transitioning youth, now emancipated from the foster care system as boundless, liberated, limitless, and free; the reality facing San Diego’s foster care alumni, however, is anything but. Their reality is fraught with limitation, encumbrances, scarcity and a freedom akin to being from the highest mountain without wings.
