SAN DIEGO, CA – The San Diego Padres today announced plans to make select Padres games available online, free-of-charge, to fans residing in the team’s home broadcast territory. The live video stream will be available exclusively on padres.com for five games, beginning with a pair of games August 18 and 19 against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. Padres President and COO Tom Garfinkel made the announcement.

“The Padres are working hard to increase access to our games for our fans, and these online broadcasts will allow fans in the San Diego market to see games that were not previously scheduled to be shown here,” said Garfinkel. “We would like to thank MLB Advanced Media for helping us make this idea a reality.”

The games being made available online are not currently scheduled to be televised by the Padres’ broadcast rights holder, Cox Communications. In order to gain access to the free live video stream, Padres fans will be required to complete a registration form on padres.com to validate their location.  The stream will feature video and play-by-play from the opposing team’s broadcast.
