SAN DIEGO PADRES ANNOUNCE OKTOBERFEST AT PETCO PARK - Approximately 25 breweries expected to participate in pre-game tasting event at PETCO Park - SAN DIEGO, CA – The San Diego Padres today announced Oktoberfest at PETCO Park. The pregame beer tasting event will take place Friday, September 24, beginning at 5:00 p.m. at Park at the Park. Admission is included with a paid ticket to that night’s 7:05 p.m. game against the Cincinnati Reds. Oktoberfest will be the second event of its kind this season. In April, the Padres held their inaugural Beerfest event, which drew a crowd of more than 3,000. Like Beerfest, Oktoberfest will celebrate San Diego’s reputation as one of America’s premier beer cities, while also supporting local businesses by featuring many San Diego-based breweries. “We had an overwhelming turnout at Beerfest and we want to build on that success, as well as improve the operational flow of the event,” said Padres President and COO Tom Garfinkel. “We listened to fan feedback and we are making some changes for Oktoberfest, in order to speed up the service and ensure folks have a great experience.” Planned improvements include more beer (both variety and quantity), a more spacious setup, increased staffing at each serving line and a streamlined payment method. Regular-sized beers priced at $5 will be available for purchase with Friar Funds exclusively. Fans will have the opportunity to buy Friar Funds at multiple locations on the day of the event, including outside the Gaslamp and East Village gates, beginning at 4:00 p.m. Friar Funds purchased prior to September 24 will also be valid at Oktoberfest. Unused Friar Funds may be used throughout PETCO Park to purchase food, beverages and retail items. Gates open at 4:30 p.m. First pour will take place at 5:00 p.m. Last pour will be at 7:00 p.m. Fans in attendance at Oktoberfest will also be treated to live music at Park at the Park, and will have the opportunity to purchase commemorative t-shirts and beer steins for $5, with proceeds going to the Padres Foundation.
