PADRES OFFER ARBITRATION TO THREE PLAYERS
SAN DIEGO – The San Diego Padres announced today that they have offered salary arbitration to three players: right-handed pitchers Kevin Correia and Jon Garland and catcher Yorvit Torrealba. The club also announced it will not offer arbitration to infielders David Eckstein and Miguel Tejada. Executive Vice President/General Manager Jed Hoyer made the announcements.
The deadline for players to accept the club's arbitration offer is November 30. If a player accepts the offer, he is considered a signed player for the 2011 season, with the salary to be determined. If the player rejects the offer, there will be no restriction on the Padres' ability to subsequently sign the free-agent player to either a Major League or Minor League contract.
The Padres will be compensated with draft picks should Correia, Garland or Torrealba sign with another club.
