SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The San Diego Padres today unveiled new gray jerseys, which the team will wear on the road in 2011. The gray jerseys will replace the sand ones the Padres have worn on the road since 2004. The debut of the gray comes one day after the Padres revealed their new Marine digital camouflage jerseys, which will be worn at all Sunday home games.
“With the grays, our intent is to return to a more classic road uniform look,” said Padres President and COO Tom Garfinkel. “We recognize that sand is a color unique to San Diego, and it is not being eliminated from our marks.”
Prior to switching to sand road uniforms in 2004, the Padres wore gray uniforms on the road for 19 seasons (1985-2003).
