SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The San Diego Padres today announced that they have optioned outfielder Cedric Hunter to Triple-A Tucson and have reassigned left-handed pitchers Colt Hynes and Rob Musgrave and right-handed pitcher Casey Kelly to minor league camp. Executive Vice President/General Manager Jed Hoyer made the announcement.
Hunter, 23, played in 15 games for the Big League team this Spring, hitting .455 (10-for-22) with four doubles, one triple, one home run, nine RBI, six runs scored and one stolen base. He was originally signed by the Padres as a third-round selection in the 2006 First-Year Player Draft.
With today’s transactions, the Padres now have 42 players in Major League camp.
