Friarhood Radio Joins the Lineup on XTRA Sports 1360AM
“For the Fans” programming will make on-air debut and take the conversation beyond the airwaves
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – April 3, 2011 – Friarhood announced today that Friarhood Radio, hosted by Steve Adler, will make its new home on XTRA Sports 1360AM in San Diego beginning April 9, 2011. Padres’ fans will be able to hear news, interviews, opinion and discussion on the hour-long program when it makes its debut at 9:00 a.m.
Since its premiere in January 2010 the radio show has produced 50 episodes, which have been available on www.friarhood.com and for free download on Itunes. Past guests of the show have included local sport writers and bloggers, top prospects in the Padres’ farm system, and current Padres such as Mat Latos and Chase Headley. “We aim to make this the radio hour for the fans, by the fans,” stated Adler, founder of Friarhood.com, an online blog with comprehensive coverage of the San Diego Padres Major League Baseball team and minor league affiliates. “Friarhood is eager to make our programming engaging and interactive, so we encourage fans to listen on-air and then join in the discussion online.”
The show will air on Saturdays from 9:00-10:00 a.m. with three ways to listen live. In addition to the on-air broadcast, Friarhood Radio will as always be available online—fans will now find live streaming on the XTRA Sports 1360AM website at www.xtrasports1360.com. For those on the go, the “iheartradio” app will allow listeners to tune in using their smart phone.
“We’re thrilled to add this new element to the Friarhood community, which will allow us to reach many more Padres fans,” said Adler. “We recognize the many knowledgeable and enthusiastic followers of Padres’ baseball, and our goal is to provide them with strong opinions and lively interviews. While this is a unique opportunity to serve as a voice of the fans, we look forward to continuing the conversation on a daily basis with the blog and our social media.”
Friarhood is active online and in the community, with such offerings as online fan forums and contests, game-watching parties, and group ticket outings to Padres games throughout the season. New content is added to the site frequently, including roster updates, game day summaries, opinion pieces and analysis.
