SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The San Diego Padres announced today they have recalled right-handed pitcher Evan Scribner from Triple-A Tucson and optioned left-handed pitcher Wade LeBlanc to the same Tucson club.  Executive Vice President/General Manager Jed Hoyer made the announcement.

Scribner, 25, has gone 0-1 with three saves in four opportunities, a 5.63 ERA (5 ER/8.0 IP) and five strikeouts against no walks over six relief appearances for Tucson this season.  The right-hander’s first appearance with San Diego will be his Major League debut.  He worked four scoreless outings this Spring for the Padres before being optioned to Triple-A Tucson on March 11.  Acquired by San Diego from the Arizona Diamondbacks on July 17, 2008 in exchange for infielder Tony Clark, he has gone 17-16 with 52 saves, a 2.71 ERA (78 ER/259.0 IP) and 317 strikeouts against 62 walks over 192 relief appearances across five minor league seasons in the Diamondbacks (2007-08) and Padres (2009-11) organizations.

LeBlanc, 26, was recalled from Triple-A Tucson yesterday for his second stint with the Padres in 2011. The southpaw made the start for the Padres against the Philadelphia Phillies, working a career-high 8.0 innings pitched.  In three starts for Tucson this season he has posted a 6.87 ERA (14 ER/18.1 IP), a .329 (26-for-79) opponents batting average and 13 strikeouts against just two walks.  Originally signed as a second-round selection by the Padres in the 2006 First-Year Player Draft, LeBlanc has gone 12-17 with a 4.47 ERA (110 ER/221.2 IP) in 41 career games, 39 starts, over parts of three Major League seasons with the Padres.
