Padres Rumor Mill: 11/15/14

SPs & Catchers Available

According to an article from Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, the Padres are listening to offers for starting pitchers Ian Kennedy, Andrew Cashner, and Tyson Ross.  Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal tweeted the same thing and also suggested in a separate tweet that the Braves, Cubs, Diamondbacks, Indians, Rangers, and Royals could be teams that have interest.

Heyman also mentions that the Padres are listening to offers for their catchers, which include Yasmani Grandal, Rene Rivera, and prospect Austin Hedges.

Tomas to SD?

We might find out soon. Jorge Arangure of Vice Sports tweeted this past Thursday that Cuban free agent Yasmany Tomas was scheduled to fly out to the US on Friday to meet with his agent, Jay Alou.  He speculated that a deal could be done by this weekend, but later tweeted that Alou messaged him and said Tomas was still scheduled to meet in the Dominican Republic with four GMs in the next two days (Friday and today). Even though Arangure might have been wrong about when Tomas could sign, it does seem like a decision could be made soon. San Diego has been connected to Tomas throughout the entire process, and with AJ Preller as their GM and his experience with signing international talent, they are definitely still in the mix. Will it happen?
