Padres Sign First-Round Draft Pick Hunter Renfroe
The Padres have signed their first-round draft pick, Hunter Renfroe. Renfroe, who was selected 13th overall, came with an assigned slot price of $2.678MM, which is exactly how much the Padres signed him for.
Renfroe was recommended by Padres scout Andrew Salvo, who also recommended Jedd Gyorko 3 years ago. Jonathan Mayo rated Renfroe as the 28th best draft prospect while Keith Law rated him 12th and Baseball America rated him 11th.
Renfroe will be assigned to the Eugene Emeralds tomorrow. With the signing of Renfroe, the Padres have now signed their first 19, and 30 of their 41 draft picks.
