San Diego Swept Away In St. Louis.

The Padres began their marathon 10 game road trip in lousy fashion, losing three straight to the Cardinals at Busch Stadium. After beating the Angels in an extra-inning thriller, the Padres lost a heartbreaker to the Cardinals in their first game on Monday night. They then were shutout on Tuesday before giving up a three run lead before their second at-bats in the finale on Wednesday, allowing the Redbirds to complete their sweep of the Friars.

The Padres will begin a four game series against the Mets on Thursday before they head to Chicago to face the Cubs on Monday. Below is a recap off their sweep at the hands of the Cardinals.

LP Andrew Cashner (2-3) 0.2IP 2H 2R 2ER 0BB 1K 1HR

A day after scoring the winning run Clayton Richard pitched fantastically into the eighth inning , but Andrew Cashner could not hold the lead, giving up a two-run homer in the eighth to give the Cardinals a 4-3 win on Monday.

Yonder Alonso singled to lead of the second inning and then reached second base on a balk by starter Jaime Garcia
