Three Up, Three Down – 4/1/14

  • Dodgers 3 – Padres 2
  • WP: Z. Greinke (1-0)
  • LP: I. Kennedy (0-1)
  • S: Jansen (2)
  • HR: LAD – Puig (1), SD – Smith (2)

The Padres fell to the hated ones tonight, to fall to .500 on the season.

Three Ups!

  • Seth Smith – The “Final Piece” is paying dividends early with his second HR in as many nights.
  • Will Venable – 2-4 tonight with solid defense in CF.
  • The bullpen – After Ian Kennedy was pulled after five innings, the pen shut down the Dodgers the rest of the way.

Three Down.

  • Chase Headley – Headley looks like he is still working through spring training.  0-4 with 2 GIDP
  • Chris Denorfia – 0-4 on the night, including 0-2 with men in scoring position
  • Dick Enberg – Mistake after mistake after mistake on the broadcast today.  It’s so hard to watch/listen to a broadcaster that was once great, fumble all over the broadcast as Enberg has done in recent years.  Missing calls and calling guys by the wrong name has become the norm on Padres broadcasts.  I realize he is “Dick Enberg”, but the Padres new management needs to start looking for a new (old) face in 2015.  SANTA MARIA!

To be completely fair to Denorfia, he is the only Padre to have a hit with runners in scoring position so far this season.
