Tucson Padres Week #14 Review 7/4/11- 7/10/11
The Pacific Coast League recently named Kyle Blanks and Wade LeBlanc players of the week and the teammates continued their great play as Blanks hitting streak went to 23 games and LeBlanc threw another shutout win. Matt Clark hit three more homeruns this week to give him a team leading 17 on the season.
New faces James Darnell and Brad Brach shined in their Tucson Padres debuts, Darnell hit three homeruns in the week and Brach recorded two saves in two tries as the T-Pads won three of six games in week 14.
The Tucson Padres started the week hosting the number one hitting team in the Pacific Coast League. The Reno Aces are batting .317 as a team this year and are in first place in the PCL Pacific North division.
The fourth of July saw a left handed pitching matchup between Tucson starting pitcher Pedro Hernandez and Reno SP Wade Miley. Both starters had solid outings giving up two runs each. SP Hernandez lasted six innings while striking out four and Miley pitched seven innings with three strikeouts.
Darnell got the start at third base and had three hits and a run batted in his Tucson Padres debut. First baseman Blanks provided some late fireworks with a two-run homerun in the bottom of the ninth inning to bring the T-Pads within one run. That was how the game ended as Tucson lost game one of the three game series 5-6.
Monsoons postponed game two of the series which will be made up later in the season.
