Tucson Padres week #19 review 8/7/11-8/15/11 

Tucson_PadresJames Darnell gets called up to the major league
club and the Padres sign free agent Pedro Feliz in week 19.
The Tucson Padres hosted the Oklahoma City Redhawks
for four games starting Sunday 8/7. Tucson sent starting pitcher Jon Van
Benschoten to the mound in game one. He allowed five runs in four innings while
striking out one batter.

Steve Tolleson started the game at shortstop in the
lead-off spot and had a hit and a run batted in. Tolleson also pitched a
scoreless inning in relief late in the game. Catcher Kyle Phillips had a
homerun and two RBI on Sunday, while second baseman Eric Patterson was a
homerun away from hitting for the cycle. 2B Patterson scored two runs and had
an RBI in the 5-13 Tucson loss.
SP Jeremy Hefner was matched up against Redhawks
starter Andy Van Hekken in game two. SP Hefner battled through six innings
while allowing nine earned runs. Opposing pitcher Van Hekken was credited with
the win as he pitched seven innings while allowing two runs with five
strikeouts.
First baseman Anthony Rizzo had one hit and one RBI
while outfielder Bobby Kielty had two hits and a run scored as Tucson lost game
two with Oklahoma City 2-10.
Tuesday the T-Pads jumped out to an early 7-0 lead
after they scored six runs in the second inning off of opposing SP Dallas
Keuchel, who lasted two innings while allowing seven runs. Tucson SP Rob
Musgrave had four strikeouts while allowing seven runs in five innings.
2B-CF Patterson was a double away from the cycle in
game two as he continued his hot hitting. 2B-CF Patterson had four hits and
three RBI and 1B Rizzo had three hits and two RBI in game three of the series.
After giving up a seven run lead the T-Pads were
able to score one run in the sixth inning to take the lead back. RP Matt
Buschmann pitched two scoreless innings in relief and was credited with the win
while RP Brach recorded his sixth save in the 8-7 victory.
