Tucson Padres Week #22 August 27- September 3
The Tucson Padres finished of it’s 2012 season with a win loss record of 56-88.
The T-Pads finished fourth in the Pacific Coast League Southern Division, Tucson was behind the first place team the Sacramento River Cats by 30 games.
Tucson also trailed the third place team the Fresno Grizzlies by 18 games.
The T-Pads finished off its 22nd week playing the Salt Lake Bees in a four game series and the Reno Aces in a four game series as well.
The T-Pads started off it’s last week of play with a 10-6 victory over the Bees on Monday August 27.
Starting pitcher Josh Spence collected his fourth win of the season after throwing five innings, giving up three runs, one earned on three hits while striking out six batters and only walking two.
Outfielder Daniel Robertson went 4-5 hitting two singles, a double, a triple, scoring three runs and collecting one RBI.
Catcher Rocky Gale went 3-5 hitting one single, two doubles, scoring two runs and collected two RBIs.
Third baseman Jedd Gyorko hit his 24th home run of the season on Monday.
Pitcher Jorge Reyes got his first save of the season after throwing an inning and a third, giving up no runs on no hits while striking out no hitters and walking one.
Tucson kept the ball rolling on Tuesday August 28, as they beat the Bees 9-6. The T-Pads tied its high for runs in an inning, scoring nine runs in the top of the fifth.
Pitcher Ross Ohlendorf got his first win as T-Pad after relieving starter Anthony Bass and throwing six innings giving up four runs on eight hits while striking out seven hitters and walking only one.
Outfielder Sawyer Carroll went 1-3 at the plate hitting a home run, scoring two and collecting three RBIs.
With Tucson’s 6-4 victory over the Bees on Wednesday August 29, it eliminated the Bees from playoff contention. It also marked the T-Pads third straight win.
Starting pitcher Thad Weber got his first win as a T-Pad after throwing five and third innings giving up four runs on eight hits while striking out six batters and walking two.
Once again Carroll had a great night at the plate as he went 3-3 hitting two singles, one double and collected two RBIs.
Pitcher Jason Ray recorded his second save of the season as he threw one inning giving up no runs on no hit while not striking out or walking a single hitter.
The T-Pads got its first sweep of the year when it beat the Bees 3-1 on Thursday August 30. This was Tucson’s first sweep since August 2011 beating the New Orleans Zephyrs in four games. It is a four game win streak for the T-Pads.
Starting pitcher Bear Bay increased his season record to 4-9 after throwing seven innings giving up only one run on five hits while striking out four and only walking one.
Shortstop Andy Parrino helped out the T-Pads offense after going 3-5 hitting one single, two doubles and collected two RBIs.
Ray got his third save of the season and marked his second save in a row, after giving up no runs on one hit, while striking out two hitters and walking none in one inning of work.
Tucson’s win streak ended at four games after its 7-2 loss to the Aces on Friday August 31. It also ended a seven game road win streak.
Pitcher Andrew Cashner continued his rehab on Friday as he got his first loss as a T-Pad after throwing four innings while giving up three runs on four hits while striking out two and walking only one.
Robertson had the best night at the plate for the T-Pads as he went 2-4 hitting two singles and scoring one run. Robertson extended his hit streak to 13 games.
Tucson was unable to hold its lead and lost to the Aces in a 4-3 contest on Saturday September 1.
Starting pitcher Josh Spence threw six shutout innings giving up only two hits while striking out three hitters and walking three as well.
Catcher Eddy Rodriquez had a good night at the plate as he went 2-4 hitting a single, a double and scoring once.
Robertson extended his hit streak to 14 games after going 2-5 hitting two singles.
Ray got his second blown save and third loss of the season after giving four runs, three earned in two-thirds of an inning.
Tucson lost its third game in a row to the Aces in a 10 inning 5-4 loss on Sunday September 2.
Ohlendorf got his first loss as a T-Pad after throwing six innings in relief of Bass. Ohlendorf gave up only one run on a home run in the tenth.
Carroll went 3-4 on the evening hitting two singles, a double, scoring two runs and recording one RBI.
Outfielder Blake Tekotte had a good night at the plate as well, going 2-4 hitting a single, a home run, scoring once and collected one RBI.
Robertson extended his hit streak to 15 games after hitting a single in the top of the fifth.
Tucson was unable to pull out a victory in its final game of the season against the Aces. The T-Pads lost the game by a score of 2-1 on Monday September 3.
The game started out with a pitchers duel as Weber threw seven innings giving up one run on seven hits while striking out two hitters and walking none.

Robertson finished off the 2012 season with 16 game hit streak as he went 1-4 hitting a single in the top of the first.
The T-Pads will be returning to Kino Stadium for the 2013 season and its first home game will be on Friday April 19, with the hope of finishing higher than fourth place in the division.
