Sharing is Caring

twitterTwitter has really become the go to outlet to get news instantly, and personally I know if I want to find out anything I find myself opening up my twitter app before anything.  The world we live in now is changing and we do not rely on established news sources as much in this instantaneous news era we live in.  We now see more and more news broken by random people or celebs/athletes themselves on twitter, and ESPN uses tweets on almost every Sportscenter broadcast.

Over this last baseball season, we really saw a boom in the number of people on Twitter.  It was great to be able to connect with other Padres fans all over the world this way, and also become one of the quicker ways to get updates if you were out of market and unable to see the games.  This is the first time in 17 years I have been living in San Diego, so while living in Orange County it was great to be able to talk to other Padres fans and get some of the best updates out there on my Friars.  There are tons of great sources out there to follow on Twitter for Padres news but I always prefer the voice of the fan. With that being said, here are my 20 choices for Padres fans to follow on twitter:

@RedtheTrucker – Ken is a not only a dedicated San Diego sports fan, but a good guy, I have had the chance to hang with him before and he is always willing to talk about the Padres if he has the time, and a beer. He was a little shook up from the offseason moves (#gayforLatos) but he is always a good follow for Padres news.

@matthewverygood – Matt is a great Padres/Chargers/SC fan who always finds his way to Dodger Stadium when the Padres play in LA, and he is also known to catch some other road games throughout the year. He has been on twitter for a while now so check him out.

@homersapien619 – Scott is a great Padres fan, and is always good for a laugh when the Padres are not playing at their best. But don’t take his humor as a lack of knowledge; he knows his stuff when it comes to the team.

@edgarbautista – Edgar is a dedicated SD sports fan who loves his throwback gear, and he catches as many home games as possible. This last year he even managed to go to Minnesota to check out Target Field when the Padres played there.

@jodes0405 – One of the most passionate Padre fans I know on Twitter, and she has been on Twitter for as long as I can remember. But don’t you dare say anything negative about SD or Everth Cabrera.

@MichaelNorris – Great follow during the season, Michael will make his way out to games when he has the chance. He is honest and wont pull punches when it comes to calling the Padres out when questionable decisions are made.

@scottcolston – Scott is a Padres fan, Weezer enthusiast, and a great photographer. Check him out for some great tweets and awesome pictures as well.

@maskedmallard4 – Daniel is a great fan who does a great job on Twitter talking about the team. He is Anaheim Ducks heavy right now but expect some good Padres tweets when Spring Training rolls around.

@sandiegogirlie – Ashley is a great Padres fan and is always tweeting during games, and she knows some things about baseball. She is a big trolley fan as well!

@stephzilla – Steph is another knowledgeable female fan when it comes to the Padres, but she also knows a ton about basketball and football as well.  She is also a fun person to grab a beer with.

@lagwag0n – A great Padres fan who is always on his twitter game during the baseball season. He attends a lot of games, so you may see him around Petco Park during the season.

@bcline760 – Brandon is a loyal Padres follower who is known for two things at games: keeping score on a scorecard like an old lady and taking pictures. Had the pleasure to catch a few games with him this year which included the All Star Game in Arizona.  He is really knowledgeable and a great guy to talk Padres baseball with.

@WonkoSD - Sean is not only a really nice guy, but knowledgeable in all things San Diego sports. Good follow if you want good information! Plus he is one of the few people I can talk soccer with, which is a plus in my book.

@Johnlegend21 – John is a passionate Padres fan stuck on an island in Texas.

@teeohemm – Tom is a not only a great guy, but a very smart sports fan. He reps the Chargers and Padres to the fullest and you can always see him at the Q or at Petco.

@aussiephil24 – Phil reps the Padres on a global level, as he tweets about his favorite team from the land down under, I got a chance to meet him last season and he is a great guy.

@friar_faithful – John is all over the sports map, but he is passionate about the Padres, the OKC Thunder, and the Green Bay Packers. So he is a fun follow to get all sorts of sports news. Plus he is always down for a chat.

@brandonbuck – Brandon is a Padres fan in Arizona, and tries his best to catch them when they play the Diamondbacks. He is known to make his way to Petco once or twice a year as well.

@krissySD – Krissy is a Padres fans who always reps her team, even if she was a little shaken up by the Rizzo trade this offseason.

@Padres38 – Su is a passionate Padres fan living Palm Desert via South Korea. Always up on Padres news and comes down for games. Hoping to get a chance to finally meet up at Fanfest this year.

Don’t forget to follow me as well. My handle is @sportsbrain, and I will literally talk about any sport with you. You name it and I will probably have something insightful or sarcastic to throw your way. Hope to see you all at Fanfest this weekend, as me and my mustache will be wandering Petco Park for most of the day.  Friarhood Staff on twitter

In an effort to focus on fans, this post did not list any players, bloggers, or friarhood staff.  If you are a Padres' fan on twitter, please post your handle in the comments.
