Weber Called Up as Ross Hits the DL

Friarhood LogoThe Padres announced Saturday afternoon that Starting pitcher Tyson Ross has been placed on the 15-day DL following an injury he sustained during the recent Padres-Dodgers series in LA. Ross experienced a subluxation (minor dislocation) of his left shoulder after collecting his first career hit on Wednesday evening off Clayton Kershaw. Ross started the season with a 3.86 ERA and 0-1 record before being placed on the DL.

Tyson’s spot on the roster will be filled by RHP Thad Weber, who will be called up from AAA Tucson for a second time this season. Weber gave up two earned runs in 3.2 innings and struck out two during his last call up. Over the last six season in the minors, Weber has gone 38-46 with a 3.99 ERA.
There is no word yet on who will replace Ross in the starting rotation.
